Move More Health and Social Care

The ambition is for physical activity to be embedded into Health and Social Care pathways, structures and processes so that ultimately, it becomes ‘business as usual’. This covers all aspects of healthcare delivery and also covers social care, which has a critical role in supporting people to stay active and independent.

Why is physical activity and health linked?

Physical activity has a critical role in preventing and managing long term health conditions. A more active Sheffield would enable people to enjoy more years of life free from pain and disability, and could help people with existing conditions to manage their symptoms.

  • Physical activity is an effective prevention and treatment for almost every medical condition

  • We want to help enable people who are less active, or who have health conditions to become more active

Physical activity doesn’t have to mean a 5k personal best, it can simply mean sitting down less. There are lots of different ways you can be a bit more active each day. Being physically active tends to be easier if you choose an activity that you enjoy, and that fits into your daily life
